Naomi S. Mormol, 83, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2021. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John L. Mormol and parents, Dr. Jesse and Anna Serby. She is survived by her daughters, Drs. Leslie (Harold) Green and Julie (Tim) Stern; sons, Dr. Jeffrey (Stacey) Mormol and Gregory (Bethany) Mormol; brother, Dr. Charles (Elvira) Serby; sister, Carolyn Weinstein; grandchildren, Erica and Ilise Green, Dr. Jeremy, Rachel and Jessica Mormol, Danielle, Joshua and Justin Mormol; Sydney, Andrea, Michelle and Arielle Stern.

Naomi received her undergraduate and Master’s degree in business administration and teaching from Syracuse University. She met the love of her life and her best friend, John, in Syracuse, N.Y. After marrying John in 1961, they moved to California, followed by Indianapolis, and settled in Columbus, where she made Columbus her home for 55 years.

She taught high school for many years until her illnesses made her unable to continue. Her pride and joy in life was John, her accomplished children and grandchildren, other family and friends. She was so proud of all the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Despite all of her physical ailment, she maintained a cheery disposition. We would like to thank the staff at Otterbein for the loving care they have given her over the past 1 and 1/2 years. The staff at Otterbein made her laugh and she made them laugh. We would also like to thank Creekside at the Village/Wexner Heritage Village for the care they gave her prior to Otterbein.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 at New Tifereth Israel Cemetery, 2565 Performance Way. To receive a link to the Zoom, please email zoom2@epsteinmemorial.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Naomi’s memory may be made to Otterbein Senior Life New Albany, Congregation Tifereth Israel (tiferethisrael.org) or charity of your choice. Online guest book at epsteinmemorial.com.
