Columbus Torah Academy art teacher Stephanie Stillman held a Chanukah Art Contest in her sixth grade classes the week of Nov. 15 where the students were asked to consider their family’s unique Chanukah traditions and celebrations.

In her class, students explore creative ways to use the symbols like those of Chanukah to discuss the importance of Jewish tradition and continuity.

For the contest, students used the materials of their choice to create images that evoked their feelings on Chanukah.

The two winners are Racheli Goldstein with her mixed media piece “Hanukkah Sufganiyot” and Mendel Deitsch with his collage piece “Freilach Hanukkah.”
