The Mamafia team members practice Mamanet at the Columbus Jewish Community Center Dec. 17, 2018. Team members from left: Tammy Mor, Marev Livneh-Dill, Marina Ronnie Bergman and Mary Current.

Mamanet Columbus, a women’s team that plays a variation of volleyball where players throw, catch and pass the ball, will begin its next season Sept. 16.

The league is open to all women ages 30 to 59. Players may join a team or form their own team of 10 to 14 players by Sept. 6. Teams play at the Bexley/Eastside JCC, New Albany JCC and in Dublin.

Each team has a dedicated coach and meets once a week for practice or a game (1½ hour commitment per week). A $28 monthly fee includes gym rental, coach, team jersey and game referee.

The program is run by JewishColumbus and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus.
