Gallery Players is having auditions Feb. 19 and 20 for its inaugural year of Jewish Theater Lab, a staged reading series featuring emerging writers and new plays.

Auditions run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 20, and actors will read selections from a script.

Artistic director Giselle Siegel said actors who participate in this collaborative experience will dig into the text of plays and focus on storytelling and creating authentic characters.

“We are also planning on staging the pieces in the Roth/Resler Theater in a way that the space has never been used before,” she said.

Siegel said community members of all ages and experience levels should audition because “it is a great way to get a taste of acting without being in a full main stage production.”

The actors in Jewish Theater Lab will perform Steven Kaplan’s “Exquisite Potential,” April 2, and Ken Clubok’s “More Than the Stars Love the Moon,” April 5.
