The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated The Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship, 52-24.

The Ohio State defense found it hard to contain DeVonta Smith and the Alabama offense. The senior had 12 receptions for 215 yards and three touchdowns.

Both teams were tied at 14 early in the 2nd quarter. But Alabama scored 28 points in that quarter to give them a 35-17 halftime lead.

Despite a potent first-half offense, Ohio State only entered the red zone twice in the second half, and were held to just seven points in the final two quarters.

Ohio State is scheduled to start the 2021 regular season at the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sept. 2.
