Today is yesterday

relived in routine in my usual home space,

meals becoming the only change of pace

with choices limited to groceries ordered and delivered

in my grocery bag was a jar of pickled beet slivers

maybe they were the last can on an unstocked shelf,

because I did not order them myself.

As I did yesterday, today I got out of bed

I haven’t decided what lies ahead

with choices limited for my time today

to reading, writing, walking, or talking on my cell

calling friends and family, sharing their time, they tell

of classes or meetings on Zoom and books they are reading

games played online, which don’t require speaking.

How long will this lifestyle last

for sure I can tell you, it isn’t a blast.
